Working Equitation

Working equitation is a discipline that aims to preserve and develop equestrian skills related to cattle rounding. This is an equestrian activity practiced in many European countries as well as in Asia and America. This wide geographical spread should be a factor for a greater development.

There are many objectives pursued by Working equitation, such as :

- Breeding development
To contribute in the selection and appreciation of the most suitable animals for professional use with livestock.
- Cultural promotion
To transmit and promote riding techniques as well as horse training in situations of work with livestock.
- Economic valuation
To promote the outlets of the horse's sector in France, Europe and worldwide, by increasing equestrian activities. These have for basis working equitation techniques and the promotion of horses in society.

It assesses the pair's capacity of recreating movements usually practiced in working situations with livestock. It highlights the ease of the pair in the different movements executed.

These events include a technical handling event and a timed handling test.

This is a timed test that must highlight professional abilities of competitors in the cattle sorting. The obligations explained above must be respected. Any sporting result that would demonstrate the opposite would be a sign of maladjustment of the rules to the spirit of the discipline.
