On Sunday September 8, the FITE General Assembly was held in Schaijk (Netherlands), following the TREC 2024 European and World Championships. 40 participants attended, either on site or via videoconference, representing 19 out of 23 FITE members.
This major event in FITE's associative life was an opportunity to review the activities carried out during the 2024 year and to discuss future ambitions. The Board of Directors was also partially renewed.
FITE 2024 activities
- Organization of the second International Meeting of Equestrian Tourism,in May 2024 in Rome (Italy). Some thirty equestrian tourism players from 11 different nations took part.
- Participation and representation in various European and international bodies: European Horse Network, European Network of Outdoor Sports, European Association of Road d'Artagnan, European Countryside Movement...
- Legislative and information watch on subjects that could have an impact on members' activities, particularly at European level: animal welfare, Package Travel Directive, etc.
- European Working Equitation Championships 2023
- Training course for international competition officials in TREC andWorking Equitation
- TREC 2024 European Senior and World Junior and Young Rider Championships
Board of Directors renewal
With 3 positions due to expire at the General Assembly, the Board of Directors was partially renewed. Adrian FLYNN (Ireland) and Justin TSENG (China) were re-elected. Loredana FANI (Italy) was elected for the first time.
Adrian FLYNN was re-elected Treasurer, and Véronique DUSYBURGH (Belgium) and Thomas UNGRUHE (Germany) were elected Vice-Chairmans.

Projects for 2025
The year 2025 will mark FITE's fiftieth anniversary.
With regard to horseback travel, the FITE will be working on the recommendations arising from the 2024 International Meeting of Equestrian Tourism, as well as continuing the work begun following the 2022 Meeting. It will also be working on preparations for the 2026 edition of this event, which it hopes will be a long-term event.
This year's discussions will also be taken further.
The Sports Committees will also be meeting to work on regulatory changes and the development of TREC and Working Equitation.
The Chairman, Frédéric BOUIX, concluded the General Assembly by thanking all the members present. The members of the Board of Directors were also congratulated on their election.
